Die Hard was released in 1988 as a huge box office hit. The story of everyman cop John McClane and his Christmas Eve mission to take down a group of German thieves, the film launched the Hollywood career of star Bruce Willis and is today regarded as a festive classic and one of the definitive action blockbusters.
